Admissions Criteria
You will be admitted to the Abendgymnasium if, at the time you wish to enter the first semester of the introductory phase, you are at least 19 years old and have completed either a career training program that complies with Berlin educational policy (an apprenticeship lasting at least 2 years in an approved field, or an accademic course of study that includes career training) or you are able to demonstrate at least three years of regular employment involving at least 20 hours per week.
The activities below also count as employment:
- heading a family household
- service in the Bundeswehr
or the Bundespolizei
- participation in volunteer development service.
The following will also be counted
toward the three- year employment requirement:
- completed military service or altermative service
- a completed "freiwilliges Jahr" (year of voluntary service)
- up to one year of documented unemployment.
There is no entrance examination.
In the final three semesters of the course phase, students
are eligible for a federal stipend (Bafög) and are considered financially independent of their parents.

- a résumé
- a copy of your last school record
- proof of a completed career training program or
- three years of employment
- proof of current employment or of registration with the umemployment office
- 1 photo.
Applicants are admitted according to the order in which their applications are received, and without regard to school grades.
